About Me

Hello! My name is Christopher Fiorina and I am a rising sophomore at Washington & Jefferson College. I am a Biochemistry major on the pre-health track in hopes of one day attending medical school and becoming a doctor. I am very active at W&J: starting the Men's Club Volleyball team, being a Washington Fellow, participating in the Alpha Lamba Delta honors society, while also working as a chemistry lab assistant. In my two semesters at W&J, I have made the Dean's list twice and I'm now proud to say that I am a Magellan Scholar! Washington & Jefferson college has truly helped me succeed in my academic career.
I chose to do my Magellan project at a Bolivian orphanage for three reasons. I wanted to help the impoverished in a medically related way, I wanted to speak Spanish, and I wanted to get out of my comfort zone of Western Pennsylvania. These criteria were all met when I found out about the Hogar Sagrado Corazon through my family. I will be studying the vaccinations that the girls receive, and comparing it to the national average of completed vaccinations for the country. I will also identify the barriers to proper vaccination techniques and come up with a way to overcome those barriers. I am very excited for this once in a lifetime opportunity and I am eager to explore the next chapter in my busy life.
